Welcome to Imladris

Rivendell, or Imladris, is an Elven settlement in the Misty Mountains on the eastern edge of Eriador. Because of its location, it was called “The Last Homely House East of the Sea” from the point of view of a traveler going to the Misty Mountains and Wilderland; and also the First Homely House from the point of view of someone coming from the wild lands to the civilized lands of Eriador to the west. It was established by Elrond in S.A. 1697 as a refuge from Sauron after the fall of Eregion, and elves could still be found living their lives until it would be time for them to sail into the West.04-7438-12Not only survivors of the Noldor, serious lords, smiths and loremasters of Eregion dwelt in Imladris; as time passed it became a refuge for many elves of different kin, journeying to the Grey Havens and even special guests experienced the soothing rest the hidden valley had to offer. Weary travelers would not be turned away as is seen in many occasions in the books, and to pick one in particular, the visit from Bilbo and the dwarves during the search for Erebor features elves singing joyously at the coming of their guests, even.48-31

O! What are you doing,
And where are you going?
Your ponies need shoeing!
The river is flowing!
O! tra-la-la-lally
here down in the valley!

O! What are you seeking,
And where are you making?
The faggots are reeking,
The bannocks are baking!
O! tril-lil-lil-lolly
the valley is jolly,
ha! ha!

O! Where are you going
With beards all a-wagging?
No knowing, no knowing
What brings Mister Baggins,
And Balin and Dwalin
down into the valley
in June
ha! ha!

O! Will you be staying,
Or will you be flying?
Your ponies are straying!
The daylight is dying!

To fly would be folly,
To stay would be jolly
And listen and hark
Till the end of the dark
to our tune
ha! ha! (chapter “A Short Rest”, The Hobbit)

25-9738-32 I am not particularly fond of the quest rewards for the epic quests in Minas Tirith, I think they don’t really look gondorian at all, and the medium robe has the shape of beorning starter gear even, but a couple pieces, like the light robe in the screens, are not bad. This robe style is adorned but not too much, elegant enough that I thought it could be good to portray an elf that is not a noble warrior of old, but one of the “regular” elves that live in Imladris around the end of the Third age. The Draighoch gloves and Orthanc shoulders surprisingly fit well the looks of the robe, and burgundy tied all together

shoulders: Shoulder pads of Resolve, burgundy dye, Ox Clan barter (Dunland) minstrel purple set

chest: Robe of Anórien Mercy, burgundy dye, volume 4 epic quest reward, light armour

hands: Bracers of the Clever Counselor, burgundy dye, runekeeper Draigoch armour, barter in Galtrev

feet: –Rune-stitched Dunlending Shoes, burgundy dye, Dunland quest reward

  1. I absolutely adore burgundy outfits! Well done, Gloredh!

That’s such a lovely robe too…I love how you’ve repurposed something Gondorian and made it feel Elvish. Certainly an outfit that has the feel of Imladris when set against against the skies and architecture of the area. Now I’ll have to finish those Epics done and snag that robe myself 🙂

    • thanks Nathrien 🙂 it is a very versatile robe, be it for scout outfits or town fashion or an elegant event imo, I love it in green too!
